The Kerala High Court on Thursday issued another order staying for four months the Thrissur Vigilance Court’s order rejecting a plea of the State government to allow it to withdraw the palmolein import corruption case. Revision petition Justice M.L. Joseph Francis passed the order on a revision petition filed by T.H. Mustafa, former Minister for Food and an accused in the case.
The court had earlier stayed the order on a petition filed by the State government.
Mr. Mustafa pointed out that the government had sought withdrawal of prosecution proceedings as a successful prosecution in the case would not be possible because of the absence of proper sanction and lack of vital evidence.

He contended that the Thrissur Vigilance Court had passed the order on the basis of a reason which was beyond the subject matter under consideration.
The government’s petition for withdrawing the case was dismissed after considering the objections raised by Leader of the Opposition V.S. Achuthanandan and V.S. Sunil Kumar, MLA.
