‘Explore Pathanamthitta,’ the novel tourism promotion campaign of the District Tourism Promotion Council (DTPC) here through social media, was launched by District Collector S. Harikishore on Saturday.
The official launch was made at a function held at the Collectorate conference hall by uploading a photograph on Facebook that showed a group of people trekking a hill.
The Collector said the DTPC had chalked out a series of programmes to attract tourists to the district.

‘Explore Pathanamthitta’ was one among the eight innovative projects announced by the Chief Minister during his recent mass contact programme in Pathanamthitta for implementation in a time-bound manner.
The Collector, who is also the DTPC chairman, said the Council would give wide publicity to the year-long tourism promotion programme.
Adventure trips in open jeep through the scenic forest tracts, seminar on the metal mirrors of Aranmula (Aranmula Kannadi), food festival introducing the native food items of Pathanamthitta, bullet rally, corracle ride at the Adavi eco-tourism project, Padayani seminar, mural art campaign, trekking, quiz contest, and programmes like Vanchippattu seminar for students will be held as part of the year-long programme, he said.
