Amrutha Arogyam scheme launched

Amrutha Arogyam scheme to diagnose life style diseases and treat the patients has started in Idukki district.

Block panchayat president A.P. Usman said that the scheme will be implemented with the support of non-governmental organisations and is included in the Arogya Keralam, Idukki project. A working group with medical officers of the community heath centres and public health centres and health inspectors has been formed with the block panchayat president as its chairman.

The scheme is implemented with the support of the Asa workers and Kudumbasree units. All people above the age group of 30 years will be screened for life style diseases including cholesterol, blood pressure and obesity.

The patients will be examined in health camps and health cards and follow up treatments will be provided under the Amrutha Arogyam scheme. Those already diagnosed of the lifestyle diseases will be provided treatment and health cards, he said.

Mr Usman said that an year- long -programme will be held as part of implementing it and booklets will be issued to houses under the block panchayat. Seminars on healthy food habits will also be conducted through out the block, he said.
