With the deadline set by the Supreme Court for the demolition of Maradu apartment blocks nearing, the State government has called an all-party meeting here on Tuesday at 3.30 p.m. to discuss the issue.
The Chief Minister's office said the residents of the apartments, who are staging demonstrations protesting the apex court order, had refused to leave even as the deadline for vacating the flats ended on Sunday.
Meanwhile, CPI State secretary Kanam Rajendran said he did not think that any political party would oppose the Supreme Court verdict. The law was broken by the builders, he said. The CPI cannot support people who violated the law. The all-party meeting was being convened considering the humanitarian aspects on the issue, he said.
