A visit to Aranmula’s heritage

A comprehensive study on Aranmula will be initiated on the basis of its historical importance as mentioned in ancient texts such as the Tamil book ‘Tirunizhalmaala’ at a seminar to be organised at Aranmula on Monday.

The national seminar ‘Aranmula and Tirunizhalmaala’, to be organised by the Aranmula Heritage Trust, will be inaugurated by Swami Golokananda of the Sree Ramakrishna Math.

K.G. Sasidharan Pillai, the president of the Palliyoda Seva Sanghom, apex body of various Palliyoda Karayogams that organises the annual snakeboat regatta in the Pampa river at Aranmula, will preside over the inaugural function.

According to K. Unnikrishnan, organising committee general convener, the heritage village of Aranmula has references in the Tamil text ‘Tirunizhalmaala’ and hence the seminar had a national importance.

M.M. Purushothaman Nair, C.R. Rajagopal, R.C. Karippath, N. Ajithkumar, Ezhumattoor Rajaraja Varma, Aranmula Hariharaputhran, M. Mohanakshan Nair, renowned historians and linguists, will be addressing the seminar.

Research scholars in the fields of history, cultural heritage, language and literature will also present papers on Aranmula and Tirnizhalmaala at the seminar, Dr Unnikrishnan said.
