Interactive traffic park coming up in 90 cents at Aranmula

Children in Pathanamthitta will soon get an exciting and educative facility to have first-hand experience of traffic rules by using miniature vehicles and interacting with traffic policemen stationed at mock signals in the Traffic Park coming up at Aranmula.

The park has been set by the Home Department and the State Road Safety Authority close by the police quarters on the banks of river Pampa at Aranmula.

The Road Safety Authority has sanctioned ₹30 lakh for setting up the Traffic Park which is in its finishing stage.

The Hindu , R.Pradeepkumar, Deputy Superintendent of Police and nodal officer of the project, said only bicycles will be provided at the Traffic Park in the first phase. Battery-operated miniature vehicles will be made available only in the second phase.

The Traffic Park has been set up as a practical educational method that delivers traffic rules and influences children’s attitudes and behaviour to traffic, says Mr. Pradeepkumar.

The services of police personnel, Motor Vehicle Department staff and Student Police Cadets will be facilitated to teach traffic rules and regulations to students at the park.

The traffic arrangements have been made at the park in such a way that children below the age of 10 years could easily understand and appreciate it, he said.

Traffic signals, police umbrella, islands, signboards have been installed at the park for the children to learn.

The traffic park would be a boon to children as it was aimed at inculcating the importance of traffic rules and road safety in children at a young age itself, the Dy.SP. said.

CM to open facility

He said the park had been set up in 90 cents of land and Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan would be inaugurating the facility in May.
