A Congress worker attacked near Taliparamba

A Congress worker suffered stab injuries in an attack by suspected Communist Party of India (Marxist) workers at Poomangalam near Taliparamba here late night on March 30.

The police said that Congress worker T. Manoj (34) was attacked while he was attending a function to mark the anniversary of the Poomangalam U.P. School at around 10-30 p.m. on Friday. Having sustained critical injuries in the attack, he was rushed to the Indira Gandhi Co-operative Hospital at Thalassery. The local office of the Congress also came under attack as culprits pelted stones at it after the attack on the party worker.

Taliparamba police registered a case. A CPI(M) worker has been nabbed in connection with the incident, the police said.
