Yasmin in police custody

Yasmin Ahmed, 29, who was arrested on Monday for her association with Abdul Rashid Abdulla, one of the 17 persons missing from the district, was on Friday sent to police custody for three days. The police suspect that they might have fostered links with the Islamic State.

Yasmin was sent to police custody by the District Sessions Court here. She took her four-year-old son along with her.

The police are hoping that her interrogation will provide a breakthrough in cases relating to the disappearance of 17 personsfrom Padanna and Thrikkarippur over the last two months, Kanhangad Deputy Superintendent of Police K.K. Sunil Babu, who is heading the investigating team, said.

Yasmin, a native of Bihar’s Mauroni village, was rounded up in New Delhi, where she was residing in a rented accommodation at Jamiya Nagar in Okhla.Yasmin, who worked along with Rashid in Peace International School at Kottakkal two years ago, confessed that the latter had sent Internet messages from Kabul.
