Website for 'Tathwa 2010' techfest launched

A website for ?Tathwa 2010?, a techno-management festival organized by National Institute of Technology, Calicut, was inaugurated on Wednesday by NITC Director Dr GRC Reddy signaling the start of preparations for the event to be held at the institute from Oct. 21 to 24.

Nearly 30 competitions, seminars and exhibitions are being held as part of Tathwa, a spokesman of the event said on Thursday. Details can be had from the website www.tathwa.org.

Also present at the launch of the website were Mr. G. Unnikrishnan, the Tathwa 2010 convener, Mr. Saseendran, Dean-Student Affairs, Mr. Melvin Mathew, general secretary of the Student Affairs Council, Mr. Ashwath V.S, academic secretary, and Mr. Mihir Pillai, secretary for technical affairs.

The design of the website, created and implemented by the students of the institute, portrays the spirit of the golden jubilee celebrations underway in the college, the spokesman said.

The website includes a complete overview of all the events, workshops, lectures and exhibitions which will be conducted as part of the programme. A highlight of the website is the online virtual stock market trading event, ?Bulls and Bears?. It also incorporates online registration and a forum.

The three-day festival is expected to be attended by at least 10,000 students and offers prizes worth over Rs 1 million. The organizers claim that it would be a platform for the best minds of the country to showcase their technical expertise and finesse.
