Water level rises in reservoirs

With heavy rain continuing in the catchment areas of Idukki, the water level showed an upward trend with a higher inflow recorded in the Periyar, the main tributary of the reservoir.

The water level on Friday was 2,377 ft. against the previous days record of 2,376.76 ft. The water level during the same day last year was 2,367.06 ft. The rainfall recorded in the catchment area was 16 mm.

Heavy rain lashed the high range areas on Friday evening, though no major rain-related calamity was reported so far.
