VS, Yeddyurappa hold talks

Chief Minister V.S. Achuthanandan on Thursday held discussions with his Karnataka counterpart B.S. Yeddyurappa on expediting legal measures to relax the ban on night traffic along the highway between Gudlupet and Sultanbathery.

It was decided that Transport Minister Jose Thettayil and Forest Minister Benoy Viswam would go to Bangalore for further discussions in this regard.

A petition filed by Kerala before the Karnataka High Court against the ban would come up for hearing only in November. Kerala is trying get the case speeded up.

Though the Kerala government had proposed to send an all-party delegation to Karnataka for discussions last week, the trip did not materialise. However, KPCC president Ramesh Chennithala went to Bangalore for discussions with Mr. Yeddyurappa.
