Three killed in road mishap

The mangled remains of the Toyota Innova, which met with an accident, kiiling three persons on National Highway-47 near Pathirapally in Alappuzha on Friday

Three persons were killed and two injured seriously when the vehicle they were travelling in rammed a State Road Transport Corporation bus at Pathirapally near here early this morning.

According to the police, seven friends from Kollam had went on a trip to Mysore on Wednesday and were on their way back when the Toyota Innova in which they were travelling in rammed a KSRTC bus, which was on its way from Haripad to Thrissur. Two of the friends were killed on the spot while another died at the Alappuzha Medical College. Two of the friends sustained serious injuries and are stated to be in critical condition. Two others in the car had minor injuries.

Fourteen passengers in the KSRTC bus sustained minor injuries in the accident, which took place at about 7 a.m., a few metres away from the All India Radio Station at Pathirapally. Police suspect the driver of the car to have slept off, leading to the accident.
