Id-ul-Fitr was celebrated here with traditional piety and fervour to mark the end of the month-long Ramzan fasting.
Large number of Muslims attended the special prayers held in the morning at mosques and Idgahs here. Id congregations were held at Camp Bazar Juma Masjid, City Juma Masjid and Elayavur Juma Masjid, among others. Minister of State for Railways E. Ahamed and Indian Union Muslim League leader and former Minister M.K. Muneer attended the Id prayers at City Juma Masjid.
The devotees also paid ?fitr-zakat' (alms) on the occasion. They also celebrated the day with special feasts and by visiting relatives and friends.
