Plea to recover lottery tax dues

The Indian Lawyers' Congress (ILC) State unit has alleged corruption in the State government's failure to recover lottery ticket sales tax arrears to the tune of Rs.92,87.41 crore during the past four years.

ILC State president T. Asaf Ali said in a statement here on Monday that no steps had been taken by the government during the past four years for the recovery of the huge arrears. The government was maintaining a studied silence on the issue to help powerful lottery distributors, he added.
