Panchayat secretary leaves on a high note

After spearheading the programmes of the Kollam district panchayat for four years as its secretary, K. Anil Kumar returns to his parent department at the Secretariat to take up his new posting as special secretary to Fisheries and Cashew Industry Minister J. Mercykutty Amma.

It was during Mr. Kumar’s tenure as secretary that the Kollam district panchayat was recognised as the best district panchayat in the country in 2013-2014 and 2014-2015.

He had also won the maiden best district panchayat secretary award of the State government. The Kollam district panchayat is also on the probable list for the 2015-2016 best district panchayat award. The district panchayat had earned the recognition of the State government during 2015-2016 for implementing most development projects in the State.

Vana Mithra award

During Mr. Kumar’s term, the Kollam district panchayat had won the Vana Mithra award of the Forest Department, the first local body to win this award. The farm sector had made rapid strides in the district through the projects implemented by the district panchayat in the past four years.
