Muthoot Group executive director hacked to death

One of the executive directors of the Muthoot M. George Group, Paul M. George, was hacked to death by unidentified assailants near Ponga on the Alappuzha-Changanassery Road here in the wee hours of Saturday.

Paul M. George, 32, the younger son of M.G. George, chairman of the group, is said to have been on his way to a resort owned by the group at Champakulam, when a group of persons on a Tempo Traveller intercepted his vehicle around 12.30 a.m. and attacked him. One of his friends, Manu, who was with him in the car, was injured while Paul died when being taken to hospital by the police.

According to the Alappuzha North Circle Inspector K.A. Thomas, the reasons for the attack are yet to be ascertained. The driver of Paul’s vehicle, who was following him in another car, and who reported the incident to the police, is being questioned along with Paul’s friends.

Further investigations are also on.

The body is presently kept in the Alappuzha Medical College morgue.
