A three-member family had a miraculous escape when the car they were travelling in caught fire near Kanjirappally on Thursday. According to the police, the family of Anil of Palambra was on their way to Kanjirappally when their car caught fire at Poothakkuzhy.
The family saw fumes coming out of the engine, stopped the car and jumped out of it. The mother and child were sent back in an autorikshaw and the Fire and Rescue Force was informed.
However, by the time they came, the entire upholstery had been badly burnt.
