International Film Festival to be inaugurated on Friday

The week-long Panchajanyam International Film Festival will be inaugurated by Girish Kasaravalli, well known film director at Chittur near here on Friday.

The inaugural function will be addressed by film personalities P.T. Kunju Mohammed, T.V. Chandran, P.K. Biju, MP and K. Achuthan, MLA, among others.

The festival will screen 49 films that include eight documentaries and 10 short films.

Chairman of the Film Festival P. Jayapala Menon has said some of the award winning contemporary world cinema that will be screened at the festival include ‘Olga’ directed by Jaime Monjardim of Brazil;

‘To Live’ directed by Yimo Zhang of China; ‘The Reader’ directed by Stephen Daldry of Germany; ‘About Elly’ directed by Azgar Farhadi of Iran; ‘Blindness’ directed by Fernando Meirelles of Brazil and so forth.

The valedictory function will be inaugurated by film director Lenin Rajendran on January 28, 2010.
