Heli-taxi services in State from Saturday

The proposed heli-taxi services from the Cochin International Airport Limited (CIAL) to various pilgrim centres and tourist spots in the State will commence on Saturday.

CIAL Managing Director C.G. Krishnadas Nair will flag off the first flight at 10.30 a.m. The airport company has already struck an agreement with the Bangalore-based Bharath Airways Private Limited in this regard.

The airport company, with its newly formed tour division, was equipped to handle the expected surge in the inflow of passengers (tourists), a CIAL press note said.

The company had obtained sanction from the Travancore Devaswom Board to operate services to Nilakkal and Saramkutti at Sabarimala, it said.

The company will also associate with the Kerala Tourism Development Corporation to transport tourists to various popular destinations in the State after the requisite infrastructure is set up as per the stipulations of the Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA).

CIAL intends to operate the service approximately for 30 hours a month. It will host a minimum of 150 passengers. For details and online reservations visit keralaairtaxi.com. The e mail id is bharathairways@gmail.com.
