Govt should not participate in Islamic Bank: Kerala High Court

A Division Bench of Kerala High Court observed on Thursday that the State and its instrumentalities should desist from associating with the financial and other activities of Islamic Bank sought to be set up in the State.

The Bench, headed by Chief Justice J. Chelameswar, made the observation when the writ petition filed by Janata Party President Subramanian Swamy and others against the Islamic Bank came up for hearing.

The State Government sought to vacate the interim order restraining the State Government and Kerala State Industrial Development Corporation (KSIDC) from commencing the operations of the Islamic Bank.
