Don’t meddle in our affairs: NSS

August 20, 2016 12:00 am | Updated 07:50 am IST - KOTTAYAM:

The Nair Service Society (NSS) has warned against the attempts from certain quarters to interfere in the internal affairs of the organisation. Without naming any political party, the editorial of the latest issue of NSS mouthpiece Service said it cannot accept the attempts from certain people to mix politics in the activities of the NSS. It is up to their leaders to stop them from continuing with their activities, the editorial said.

The NSS has not intervened in the internal affairs of any political party. As such, the organisation is very particular that political parties keep their hands off the internal affairs of the organisation.

There were similar attempts earlier, but the organisation could withstand them because of the organisational strength, the liberal attitude and firm stance against such moves. It said that the organisation had been functioning for over a century based on the ideals of secularism, democracy and social justice. While the organisation has no politics, persons from all political parties are members of the NSS.

All of them have the freedom to work for the political ideology they adhere to. It is based on this belief that the NSS had decided on the policy of equidistance. According to the editorial, in the last Assembly polls where the NSS had maintained equal distance from all political parties and coalitions, the people had voted against corruption and communalism.

While the Left had come to power, the Right could not make it because of lack of unity and flawed policies.
