Food and Civil Supplies Minister C. Divakaran will inaugurate a `pattaya mela' in Munnar town at 10 a.m. on Friday in which 2,300 selected landless people will be distributed the title deeds each for five cents of land at Kuttiyar Valley as part of the government programme to provide landless poor in the district with government land.
Revenue Minister K.P. Rajendran, Public Works Minister P.J. Joseph and Scheduled Caste and Scheduled Tribe Welfare Minister A.K. Balan will distribute the title deeds at the function.
P.T. Thomas (M.P.) will be the chief guest and S. Rajendran (M.L.A.) will preside over.

Leaders of various political parties and peoples representatives will attend the function in which District Collector Ashok Kumar Singh will welcome the audience, and Devikulam Sub-Collector Pranab Jyothinath will deliver the vote of thanks.
The deserved people were selected from a list of 3,816 applicants who came in the selection list prepared by the Land Assignment Committee. A primary list of 4,586 people was prepared for distribution of land in Kuttiyar Vvalley from the applications received from landless poor in 2008.
As part of this, 770 people were distributed land in October last year in the first phase of land distribution. Ten cents of land to each deserved persons were distributed at that time and later the government fixed the land limit to five cents each to include more deserving people.

Official sources said that the demarcation of the lands at Kuttiyar Valley for distribution had been completed.
A Land Assignment Committee meeting held at the Government Guest House at Devikulam on Wednesday evening decided the final list of deserving people at the `pattaya mela' to be held on Friday.
