Deadline for GSTregistration extended

February 05, 2017 09:15 pm | Updated 09:15 pm IST - THIRUVANANTHAPURAM:

The deadline for traders to have Goods and Service Tax (GST) registration has been extended up to February 20.

A Commercial Taxes Department release said here on Sunday that the last date has been extended in view of the complaints in providing provisional ID for traders. The provisional ID has been provided to about 30,000 traders through the department website. Many other States has started the registration in November last itself, but the State could get 50% of the traders registered between January 1 and 22 itself.

Many traders were going slow on the registration process hoping to get more time, but a last-minute hustle may throw up more impediments, the release said.

The 2.5-lakh traders currently registered with the department would have to upload their personal and business details under the new regime. They can make use of the Kerala Value Added Tax Information system using the current password and user ID.

On logging into the system, they would get a temporary password and user ID for registering in the new GST system. Help desks have been set up at all Deputy Commissioner offices for clarifying the doubts of the traders on registration, the release said.
