The Kerala Livestock Inspectors’ Association has demanded that cattle rearing be included in the Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Scheme to make it economically viable. With the 57th State conference of the association getting under way here on Saturday, the livestock inspectors also called for disbursing financial assistance to all those engaged in animal husbandry.
They also demanded the revision of milk prices so that farmers get 50 per cent profit and also sought comprehensive rationing system for cattle feeds.
The conference scheduled to be held at the Soorya auditorium here will be inaugurated by Revenue Minister E. Chandrasekharan at 10 a.m. on Saturday. Five hundred livestock inspectors would take part, association president Satheesh Alphons said.
