BJP demands white paper on terrorist activities in Kerala

BJP spokesperson Nirmala Sitharaman demanded here on Monday that the Kerala government should come out with a white paper on activities or terrorist organisations in the State.

Addressing a press conference, the spokesperson said that the white paper should explain action being taken to counter the terrorists. “We cannot let Kerala to be completely intruded by terrorist groups.”

Ms. Seetharaman urged that instead of acting like a third party observer, Chief Minister V. S. Achuthanandan should initiate action against terrorists. Terrorist organisations in the garb of political parties should be banned.

She said that the Tamil Nadu government was propagating inequality through its scholarship programme for students. While minority students were being given scholarships ranging from Rs. 15000 to 125000 for studies from primary school to doctorate levels, students from poor Hindu families, except those belonging to Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes, were not being offered any scholarships. Even in the case of SC and ST students, the assistance ranged from Rs. 7000 to Rs. 15000 only. The BJP was organising protests against this at the district level in Tamil Nadu.

Citing the arrest of former Gujarat Minister Amit Shah, She reiterated the party’s stand that the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) was being misused by the Centre to harass its leaders in States ruled by the party. At the same time, Congressmen were being favoured in cases against them. The Centre also used the CBI to intimidate smaller parties to get their support and other benefits.
