BJP completes election of presidents in 11 districts

January 03, 2010 07:12 pm | Updated 07:12 pm IST - THIRUVANANTHAPURAM

The BJP has completed the election of presidents of 11 of its 14 district units in Kerala by consensus. The choice of presidents for Thiruvananthapuram, Thrissur and Kottayam units were postponed. These may now take place only after the election of State president later this week.

No consensus could be arrived at regarding the election of the Thiruvananthapuram unit, as two groups are strongly opposed to each other regarding the choice of president. In Thrissur, there are complaints about the election process and hence it was deferred. In Kottayam, the party is hoping to settle differences over the choice of president shortly through discussions.

Elected representatives from the districts would be meeting in Kozhikode on January 5 and 6 to elect the new State president. The Central leadership has appointed H. Ananda Kumar as the returning officer for the election.
