The mortal remains of veteran actress Adoor Bhavani who died at her son’s residence at Pannivzha near Adoor on Sunday, were consigned to flames at the funeral pyre at the residential courtyard on Monday afternoon.
The funeral was carried out with full State honours after rich tributes were paid to the departed soul in the presence of a large gathering.
Minister for Cultural affairs, M.A. Baby and Devaswom Minister Kadannappally Ramachandran, represented the State at the funeral. Mr. Ramachandran placed the wreath on behalf of Chief Minister,

The body was kept at the Town Hall in Adoor town earlier in the forenoon for people to pay homage to the ‘grand old lady’ of Malayalam filmdom who passed away at the age of 82.
Maniyan Pillai Raju and Edavela Babu placed the wreath on behalf of the Association of Malayalam Movie Artists (AMMA). Mr. Suresh Gopi, Mr. K.R. Mohan, Kerala Chalachitra Akademi chairman, Mr. Vinayan, MACTA chairman, Ms. Kaviyoor Ponnamma, Mr. Renjith, Mr. Sabu Colonia, Mr. Joshy Mathew and Mr. T.P. Madhavan, all cine personalities, were among those who paid homage to Bhavani on Monday.

Mr. Kodikkunnil Suresh, Mr. Anto Antony, MPs, Mr. K.B. Ganeshkumar and Mr. Adoor Prakash, MLAs, also paid floral tributes to Bhavani.
Mr. Thiruvanchoor Radhakrishnan, MLA, Mr. K. Jayakumar, Additional chief Secretary and Mr. T.T. Antony, District Collector, were among those who attended the funeral held at Pannivizha, later, in the afternoon.
A funeral procession carrying the body in a decorated motor chariot was taken out from the Town Hall to Pannivizha, earlier. Bhavani’s only son, Rajeevkumar, performed the last rites and lit the funeral pyre, later.
