9 AAI men to be produced in court

The arrest of nine Airports Authority of India (AAI) personnel was recorded on Friday evening in connection with the death of Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) constable S.S. Yadav at Karipur airport on Wednesday night.

The police said they would be produced before the Judicial First Class Magistrate here on Saturday.

The police had taken 13 AAI employees into custody soon after the violent clashes at the airport. Four of them were let go after the police examined the closed-circuit television visuals.

The arrested were charged under IPC Section 304 for culpable homicide not amounting to murder.

The arrested were S. Jagannathan Nair, 59; K. Reneesh, 41; N.R. Ajit Kumar, 41; K. Joseph Shine, 42; K.P. Bridg, 40; M. Joshy, 38; A.B. Aneesh, 38; Madhu Mohan, 51; and P.K. Sreedharan. All of them are employees at the Airport Fire Department.

The police said Ajit Kumar and Sunny Thomas, two injured airport staff now in hospital, would also be included in the charge-sheet.

Reconstruct scene

The police said that they would try to reconstruct the incidents which led to the shooting and killing of the CISF jawan.

They said they would reach a conclusion only after getting the ballistic reports.
