56 injured in head-on collision in Idukki

At least 56 people were injured when a KSRTC bus collided head on with a private bus on the Thodupuzha-Kattappana route in front of the collectorate at Painavu on Saturday. The conditions of T.G.Mohanan, driver of the KSRTC bus and Sebastian Jose, driver of the private bus were said to be critical. Both of them were rushed to a private hospital at Thodupuzha. Other injured persons were also admitted to a private hospital at Thodupuzha. Local people and the police had to struggle to save the drivers who were trapped inside the vehicles.

Woman injured

One woman was injured in another accident involving two private buses that collided at Narakakkanam curve in the evening on Saturday. The police said her condition was not serious.
