429 more test positive in State

The State reported 429 new COVID-19 cases on Thursday, when 19,648 samples were tested in the last 24 hours.

There are 3,171 active cases in the State now. A total of 620 persons were reported to have recovered from the disease on the day. About 11.4 % of the active cases are currently hospitalised.

On Thursday, the total number of patients admitted with moderate or severe COVID in hospitals across the State dropped to 227. New hospital admissions on the day were 50.

The State declared seven COVID deaths, of which 1 occurred in the last 24 hours, while 6 were deaths which occurred in the last few days but which were declared only in the last 24 hours.

The State also added 41 pending COVID deaths to the official list of fatalities. These are deaths which have now been accepted as COVID deaths by the government as per the new guidelines of the Centre and following the appeals filed by families.

The official cumulative COVID-19 case fatality in the State rose to 67,913. Of these, 32,106 (47.2 %) deaths were added after October 2021, following the death reconciliation exercise.

The State’s cumulative COVID-19 burden now stands at 65, 32,684 cases.

Among the districts, Ernakulam reported the highest number of new cases with 89 cases followed by Thiruvananthapuram 66, Kottayam 50, Kollam 40, Thrissur 34, Kozhikode 39, Pathanamthitta 23, Idukki 21, Kannur 21, Malappuram 16, Alappuzha 11, Wayanad 9, Palakkad 8, and Kasaragod 2.
