Early Bird registration has surpassed last season’s tally

At the close of the Early Bird discount offer, nearly 2,300 retail outlets have signed up to be part of the sixth season of the Grand Kerala Shopping Festival (GKSF) that begins on December 15.

Like the previous editions, jewellers, textile retailers, home appliances and electronics stores, and supermarkets lead the list of outlets taking advantage of the opportunity to boost sales and branding during the 48-day shopping fete, being organised by Kerala Tourism.

The GKSF is all set to achieve its target of a record 10,000 registrations from merchant establishments. In the premium gold category with multiple incentives, registrations are well over last season’s tally.

The number of gold category registrants has been higher in Alappuzha, Ernakulam, Kasaragod, Kollam, Pathanamthitta, and Thrissur districts as compared to the fifth season.

“A systematic approach to the registration process and the intervention of the State-wide Akshaya IT network has meant that we can easily achieve over 10,000 registrations,” Minister for Tourism A.P. Anil Kumar said.

The online registration facility, which has been introduced for the first time this season, has found many takers.

“There are nearly 1,000 entrepreneurs from the Akshaya centres who are doing an outstanding job in the field, assisting small retailers in particular to sign up for the festival,” GKSF Director U.V. Jose said.
