2 killed in separate road accidents

A former nursing superintendent of the government district hospital here and a 17-year-old Plus Two student were killed in two separate road accidents in the district on Friday.

Philomena, 56, who retired a few months ago, was riding pillion on a two-wheeler with her husband Joy, former municipal secretary of Taliparamba municipality, when their vehicle was knocked down by a private bus near South Bazar here in the morning. Joy has been hospitalised with injuries.

Muhammad Ramshad, the Plus Two student, was killed when the motorcycle he was riding collided with a private bus at Macheri, near Chakkarakkal, around 1 p.m. He died at the Anjarakkandy Medical College Hospital, the police said.
