Kalmadi seeks court leave to attend Olympics

The former Commonwealth Games Organising Committee chairman, Suresh Kalmadi, on Thursday moved court seeking permission to attend the 2012 London Olympics. He is the main accused in the Games Timing, Scoring, Results System contract scam.

“Applicant, in his capacity as a member of the International Association of Athletics Federation Council and as president of the Asian Athletics Association, is required to attend certain meetings, conferences and matters of the IAAF during the Olympics.”

In his application to Special CBI Judge Talwant Singh, Mr. Kalmadi sought exemption from court appearance during July 26-August 13.

It has been listed for hearing on Friday.

The case is at the stage of arguments on framing of charges.
