Kairana residents clash with police

Residents of Kairana in Uttar Pradesh clashed with police personnel who had gone to investigate complaints of eve-teasing on Monday night.

The matter took a violent turn when the locals protested against the alleged misbehaviour of the police.

Later during the night a huge mob staged a protest at the police station. However, former MP Tabassum Hasan persuaded the locals to call it off.

Kairana Superintendent of Police Ajaypal Sharma told the media that a team had gone to probe a complaint filed by a woman that a youth was stalking her.
