JD(U) must follow coalition dharma: Venkaiah Naidu

BJP leader M. Venkaiah Naidu has asked the Janata Dal (United) to follow the coalition dharma in the wake of some of its leaders criticising Gujarat Chief Minister Narendra Modi on his anointment as the campaign committee chairman for the coming elections in five States and next general election.

“Some friends in the JD(U) are making derogatory remarks against Mr. Modi which will neither help you nor the country. Please don’t do that and follow coalition dharma,” Mr. Naidu told journalists here on Thursday.

He said the recent episode involving BJP senior leader L.K. Advani’s resignation from the party posts and the withdrawal of the same later would not have any negative impact as some political parties wished it. “We will resolve if there are any issues”.

The Congress was rattled by Mr. Modi’s elevation. If it believed this would create a division in the BJP, then it was living in fool’s paradise.

Referring to the talk of third front or federal Front, he said it had been a failed experiment. “People will not excuse any party trying to protect the UPA government or weaken the resolve of people to throw this government out. The only alternative is the BJP-led government at the Centre. It has credible record of good governance and development in the States where it ruled.”
