Jat group moves caveat in SC over quota issue

April 02, 2016 01:24 am | Updated 01:24 am IST - NEW DELHI:

Jat community representatives filed a caveat plea in the Supreme Court on Friday, saying they need to be heard first in case of a challenge to grant of reservation benefits to the community in Haryana.

“In case of filing of petition for stay [of decision to grant reservation] on behalf of the respondent [Raj Kumar Saini], the caveator wants to appear and wants to bring to the notice of the honourable court the true and material facts of the case,” All India Jat Aarakshan Sangharsh Samiti said.

The move comes in the wake of a reported statement made by Mr. Saini, a BJP MP from Kurukshetra, that he intends to challenge the grant of reservation benefits in the apex court.
