CBI chief rewarded for his ‘service’ with a gubernatorial post

Welcoming the Sessions Court order to reopen the 1984 riots case against Jagdish Tytler, the BJP has said that it was a textbook case of misuse of the CBI by the ruling party.

At a news conference here on Thursday, BJP national spokesperson Nirmala Sitharaman said the Congress had consistently used every trick to cover up the active complicity of its leaders and workers in perpetrating this massacre.

She contended that the Congress worked on cover-ups and delayed the process of departmental action, knowing very well that no officer or government employee could be prosecuted from four years after their retirement.

Ms. Sitharaman said the CBI chief who gave the clean chit was rewarded for his ‘service’ with a gubernatorial post, and notwithstanding the CBI’s clean chit to Mr. Tytler, the Opposition parties and several Sikh bodies protested against this outrage.

“That there were very many other Congress leaders who were accused of perpetrating this sponsored massacre is evident from the various commissions and committees, which named Late H.K.L Bhagat, Dharam Das Shastri, Sajjan Kumar, Kamal Nath and Tytler.
