‘I-T officials question Gadkari’

Former BJP president Nitin Gadkari was questioned by the Income Tax (I-T) authorities in Nagpur late in the evening on Thursday.

However, Mr. Gadkari’s office has denied any such development.

Mr. Gadkari’s PRO Chandan Goswami termed the news “as another creation of Media”.

But sources confirmed that Mr. Gadkari was present inside Nagpur I-T office for about four hours.

According to sources, Mr. Gadkari was to appear before the I-T department on February 1, but he cited a reason of “BJP core committee meeting" on the same day and asked for an earlier date.

Accordingly he was questioned on Thursday evening.

The Nagpur Income Tax officials refused to comment on the development

Mr. Gadkari came under scanner after the report of irregularities in the Purti Group which he promoted. The I-T department has been investigating the allegations levelled against the Purti group.
