While expressing happiness over grant of bail to his daughter and party MP Kanimozhi, DMK president M. Karunanidhi declined to discuss the reasons behind delay in securing bail.
“At a time when we should be happy, we cannot go in search of reasons behind the delay,” he told reporters at his Gopalapuram residence on Monday. “I am extremely happy,” he said.
To a question whether Ms. Kanimozhi would be rewarded with a big post in the party, he said: “As a father I expressed my happiness. But I am not an autocrat and the party will take a decision.”

Asked what would be his first reaction when he met her, he said, “Oh, at least now you have come out.”
Asked whether the bail would be a precursor to a positive outcome in the case, he said it would be inappropriate to discuss courts and the trials.

On whether he would advise the former Union Minister, A. Raja, to move the court for bail now, Mr. Karunanidhi said if Mr. Raja sought his opinion he would advise accordingly. But Mr. Raja, so far, has not approached him.
When reminded of Mr. Raja's statement that he would file a petition only after Ms. Kanimozhi was granted bail, he said Mr. Raja had not discussed anything with him before expressing his views on the issue.
Reception
Asked whether the party had plans to organise a grand reception to Ms. Kanimozhi, he said there should be reception, but one could not say if it would be grand or not.
“She is out on bail after spending six months in jail. If everyone is united in their heartfelt welcome, everyone will be happy,” he said.
Mr. Karunanidhi said Ms. Kanimozhi's mother was also happy about the outcome.
He said her visit to Chennai would be decided after completing the formalities in the court.
