HC rejects CBI officer Devender Kumar’s plea

January 21, 2019 09:35 pm | Updated 09:35 pm IST - New Delhi

The Delhi High Court on Monday refused to entertain the plea of CBI Deputy SP Devender Kumar seeking direction to the probe agency not to allow its then director Alok Verma to deal with the FIR lodged against him and Special Director Rakesh Asthana over bribery charges. It said the relief sought by Mr. Kumar cannot be granted as it has already delivered a judgment in his and Mr. Asthana’s pleas seeking quashing of the FIR and asked his lawyer to withdraw the application.

Mr. Kumar’s lawyer told the court that the application was filed prior to the judgment, but was listed for hearing on Monday.

On January 11, the high court had refused to quash the FIR lodged against Mr. Asthana, Mr. Kumar and others on bribery allegations and had directed the CBI to complete investigation in the case within 10 weeks.
