Five accused escape from Nagpur prison

Jail authorities suspect that the inmates might have escaped using blankets to cross the security wall of the jail.

The inmates who managed to escape from Nagpur central jail on Tuesday morning.

Five inmates accused of serious criminal offences managed to escape from Nagpur Central Jail on Tuesday morning.

Mohhamad Shaoib Salim Khan, Bishan Singh Phuke and Satendra Gupta , all three accused of murder, escaped from the jail along with Akash Thakur and Prem Nepali accused of dacoity and robbery.

However, jail officials refused to speak to the media about the incident.

Mohhammad Shoaib Salim Khan , Bishan Singh Phuke and Satendra Gupta belong to the dreaded Raja Gous gang which was involved in the sensational killing of Roshan Samrit in April last year.

According to some police sources, the inmates cut the iron rods of their barracks; however, no tunnel was discovered in the jail.

Jail authorities suspect that the inmates might have escaped using blankets to cross the security wall of the jail.

 Tuesday morning’s jail break has raised question about the security of a jail which houses some of the dreaded criminals and terrorists.

Himayat Beg, an accused of German Bekary bomb blast was shifted to Nagpur central jail last week.

 Yakub Menon, who has been sentenced to life for being involved into 1993 Mumbai serial bomb blasts and underworld don Arun Gawali  are some other “high profile criminals” in the jail.
