Pande and treasurer Amit Prakash Singh said in a statement issued on Wednesday that the announcement puts paid to the argument that newspapers are low in profitability and that owners cannot afford to pay workers wages as per the Majithia Wage Boards for Newspaper Employees notified by the Government of India in 2011.

“We urge all newspapers to do justice to their employees by immediately implementing the pay scales and providing the facilities recommended,” the DUJ said.
