Dimple Kapadia, wife of Rajesh Khanna, has moved the Bombay High Court, challenging the allegation of domestic violence and the claim to a share in the property of the late actor made by Anita Advani, who has stated to have had a live-in relationship with him.
Ms. Advani filed a complaint against Ms. Kapadia, her two daughters Twinkle Kumar and Rinki Saran and son-in-law Akshay Kumar, stating that she was thrown out of Rajesh Khanna’s house ‘Aashirwad’ in Bandra after his death. She also sought monthly maintenance from the Khanna family.
Ms. Kapadia said in her petition that she was the legally wedded wife of Rajesh Khanna and no other woman could claim a share in the wealth left behind by him.

Hearing a complaint filed by Ms. Advani on Tuesday last, the Bandra Metropolitan Magistrate Court suggested that both parties arrive at a settlement. It also asked Ms. Kapadia, her two daughters and son-in-law to be present in person before the court to answer Ms. Advani’s allegations.
In her petition, Ms. Kapadia asked for a stay on the lower court’s order. The petition also contended the claim of ‘domestic violence’ made by Ms. Advani, stressing that she chose to move the court three months after the actor’s death and any complaint (of domestic violence) should have been filed when it had happened.
Mr. Kumar too has filed a petition in the High Court supporting Ms. Kapadia’s argument and opposing any share of Rajesh Khanna’s wealth, which is estimated to be around Rs. 500 crore.

Advocate Girish Kulkarni, representing Ms. Kapadia, said the petitions were likely to be heard on Monday.
