The Delhi-Meerut Regional Rapid Transit System (RRTS) corridor was on track to meet the deadline of June 2025 and 24.8% of the physical targets had been achieved as of February 28, the Union Housing and Urban Affairs Ministry told the Rajya Sabha on Monday.

Replying to a question by BJP MP from Uttar Pradesh, Brij Lal, Housing and Urban Affairs Minister of State Kaushal Kishore said in a written answer that the National Capital Region Transport Corporation (NCRTC) had said the construction on the corridor was “in full swing and on schedule”.

The 82-km corridor would reduce the time taken to travel between Delhi and Meerut to under one hour. Prime Minister Narendra Modi had laid the foundation stone for the project in March 2019. The 17-km-long priority section from Sahibabad to Duhai is expected to be functional by the end of 2022, according to officials.
