May 27, 2012 03:22 am | Updated July 11, 2016 09:05 pm IST - New Delhi:

The Central Bureau of Investigation has sought from a TV news channel copies of Army Chief General V.K. Singh's interview in connection with its probe into his allegations that he was offered a bribe of Rs. 14 crore by a retired Army officer.

CBI sources said they would analyse any additional information given by the Army Chief during the interview to Times Now.

The agency, which has registered a preliminary enquiry case in connection with the alleged bribe offer, is still looking for some “reliable” evidence to convert it into a regular FIR.

The sources said the relevance of the interviews to the probe could only be ascertained after going through the statements of the Army Chief and the claims made by him.

Gen. Singh claimed in interviews that an equipment lobbyist had offered him a bribe of Rs. 14 crore, a matter which he had reported to Defence Minister A.K. Antony. Later in his complaint to the CBI, Gen. Singh alleged that it was Lt Gen. (Retd.) Tejinder Singh who offered him the bribe on behalf of Vectra Chairman Ravinder Rishi.

Lt. Gen. Tejinder Singh rejected all the allegations against him.
