CBI searches 30 places, inluding former Haryana CM Bhupinder Singh Hooda's premises

Searches pertain to an FIR registered for alleged irregularities in land acquisition in Haryana.

The CBI is conducting searches at 30 places in the National Capital Region, including the premises of former Haryana Chief Minister Bhupinder Singh Hooda, in connection with a land acquisition case.

Searches are being conducted in Chandigarh, Mohali, Rohtak, Gurugram and other places also.

The CBI said the searches pertained to an FIR registered for alleged irregularities in land acquisition in Haryana. More details of the case are awaited.

 

CBI probe on in 2 other cases

The CBI is already probing Mr. Hooda and others in two cases of alleged corruption in reallotment of a plot in Panchkula to Associated Journals Limited and alleged irregularities in acquisition of land in Gurugram, causing huge losses to farmers.

The CBI has already filed charge sheets in these cases. Based on the CBI charges, the Enforcement Directorate has also taken action against the accused persons under the Prevention of Money Laundering Act.

The new case has been registered against Mr. Hooda, IAS official T.C.Gupta, the then Chief Administrator, Haryana Urban Development Authority, and others, following the Supreme Court directive to probe the acquisition process involving about 1,417 acres of land in Gurugram between 2009 and  2012.
