The CBI has provided additional documents to the Union Home Ministry seeking grant of sanction to prosecute four Intelligence Bureau officials in the Ishrat Jahan “fake encounter” case.
“Although we cannot share the case diary with the Home Ministry, other related papers have been provided. However, we have refused to share these documents with the Gujarat government,” said a senior CBI official on Tuesday.
The Home Ministry had earlier turned down the agency’s request for prosecution sanction in the case, asking for the case file.
