The National Alliance of People's Movements (NAPM) has demanded that the probe into alleged irregularities in Lavasa be handed over to the Central Bureau of Investigation.
In a letter to Maharashtra Chief Minister Prithviraj Chavan, the Medha Patkar-led organisation also sought an in-depth enquiry into the involvement of public servants and politicians in the “scam.”
The NAPM alleged that various rules were bent to grant permission for the multi-crore hill city near here.

The letter states that a thorough investigation should be made into land deals of the project. “There are various types of land involved in the project: farmers' land that was forcibly taken; land acquired under the land ceiling Act; and land belonging to tribals. It should be made sure that people are not displaced until the investigation is complete,” it said.
The NAPM also objected to the Special Planning Authority (SPA) that has been granted to the hill city. “The water meant for Pune city is being diverted to Lavasa for luxury through the Warsagaon reservoir. This should be stopped,” the letter read.
