CBI obtains voice samples of A.K. Singh, Chandra

February 13, 2013 02:48 am | Updated November 17, 2021 04:46 am IST - NEW DELHI:

The controversial audio clip of the purported conversations between sacked Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) public prosecutor A.K. Singh and Unitech managing director Sanjay Chandra, an accused in the multi-crore 2G spectrum scam case has been sent to the forensic science laboratory so that its authenticity can be ascertained.

While the CBI on Tuesday maintained they would have to take legal recourse to obtain voice samples of Mr. Singh and Unitech managing director Sanjay Chandra with their consent, sources said the agency had obtained the samples. Mr. Singh and Mr. Chandra were examined by the CBI officials on Monday. Mr. Chandra, through a press statement, has denied that his voice is on the alleged recording.

The agency has set up a team to study the damage, if any, caused to the prosecution’s case as experts feel that the clip can weaken the prosecution’s stand during the ongoing trial.
