Award the sisters for bravery, demands Haryana Bairagi Samaj

The issue of alleged misbehaviour with two sisters, Arti and Puja, by three men on a Haryana Roadways bus has taken a casteist turn with the Bairagi Samaj demanding on Saturday that they be awarded by the State government for bravery, as was announced initially.

Members of the Samaj took out a rally in Jind and submitted a memorandum to the Deputy Commissioner stating that the affidavits being submitted by the families in support of the three accused in the case — who belong to the Jat community — be probed by the Special Investigation Team. If they are found to be false then those submitting them should also be booked for criminal conspiracy, the memorandum said.

Haryana unit president of the Bairagi Samaj, Narender Singh, said members of the community would hold a Mahapanchayat in Rohtak on December 25 to demand that the girls be honoured.
